i hear about the only person around itdoesn't have tv coverage of the face and then they got the black up now you'regonna be the one getting a tv picture is still yet we are getting a tv picture 10 right now we interact with computers ina very unnatural for 2d way and we try to create these 3d objects using avariety of 2d tools and it is it doesn't feel natural doesn't feel normal the wayyou should do things so we started playing around with the idea and using afew things that are available out there such as the emotion and siemens and xwhich is what we use to design the
rocket and we are some coach canintegrate the two and we started off with what you see here which is a wireframe of the middle and rocket engine and and what i can do is i can and grabit and i can rotate it multiple dimensions and then what i can do is ican put another hand in there and i can zoom i can zoom in and out on the on thewire frame and then i can also translate it so i can move it around the screenand then zoom and translate and this is what we we started off with a few monthsago and you can you can also spin it and then catch it this is kind of fun fun way to interfacewith what is really very complex model
now we'll go to go from this to what wewere able to advance to a few weeks after the wireframe which is to toactually use a a full 3d cad model of the engine so here what you're seeing isthe actual interaction with the cad software manipulating the real 3d modelof the melon engine just using hand gestures if you can just go in there anddo what you need to do just understanding the fundamentals of howthings should work as opposed to figure out how to make the computer make itwork then you can you can achieve a lot more in a lot of short period of time sothen we went to a 3d projection we started off with the kind of 3dprojection that you familiar with in the
movies that were used 3d glasses we also did a free-standing glassprojection which is what the sort of technology was used in the iron manmovies and finally we use the oculus rift which is the most of virtualreality that actually tracks your head position and you really are movingaround the object of feels like it's right there in front of you now let'suse this for an actual component on the rocket which is like cryogenic valvehousing you can really apply your intuition and take something from yourmind to a physical object with far greater ease than we currently do nowthat we've gotten it the object out of
our head and into the computer how toget it out of the computer and into reality so we're actually gonna print this witha 3d laser metal printer so the way that the 3d printer works is a place down fine particles of either titanium or incanal and then it goes over with a laser and melt that those tiny particles on tothe prior layer that builds it up like just layer by layer so i i believe we'reon the verge of a major breakthrough in designing manufacturing and being ableto take that an edit the concept of something from your mind translate thatinto it
3d object really intuitively it on thecomputer and then take that virtual 3d object and be able to make it real justby printing it so it's going to revolutionize designmanufacturing in the 21st century history but the only person around itdoesn't have tv coverage to the food and
why was 3d printing invented, then we got the black up now you'regonna do this but instead of getting a tv picture now they are gay that's one all bad way
